I know chords or at least the easy chords
but the really difficult ones annoy me as I find I can't make the shapes properly and I hit duff notes. But what I really want to do is get some nice hansome bloke to show me how to put chords into something resembling music. But I have a strum every now and again and look at my guitar book in confusion 5ths, 6ths, 7ths etc. major minor chords blah blah - and then I read that some of the best guitar players are self taught.

Then I must be a very loose woman ;)
I agree, though, freestyle break you free of the monotony of sounding like you've learnt from a book - I probably sound like I've learnt from a tone-deaf mongoose.
