Not buying cheap crap but making things yourself. I make my own environmentally friendly detergent for half the price of the budget toxic crap.
EDIT: 2 gollons of distiller vingar to one small bottle of cheapy store lavendar oil. Leave for on month and it just smells of lavendar.
Vingar kills pretty much all germs, bacterian and mould.
Buy it creaply and you can do it for about 40p per litre:)
Vinigar is still used in some hospitals to this day.

Talking of which: Old stocking feet filled with gritty kitty works better than odour eaters and cost a 1/4 of the price.
EDIT: This is the sort of thing I'd like the site to be about. Before I had this job I managed to cut 10 hours off my working week with an extra five hours work.

Another great one is organic eggs cost about two quid a half dozen. Ex battery chickens cost under two quid each, cost about 50p a week to look after (if you have a walled garden) and you have the added bonus of looking after a chicken that has had a crap life (it does take a few month for them to be able to stand properly and have feathers) and was going to be destroys as its productivity went under 5 eggs a week. Plus they make great pets (they make great pets).
