# a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away
i used to use ATI and it was good and so i stuck to them, but in recent years the driver updates (and shitty software they try and bundle with them) just cause loads of problems. I bought the cards for gaming and to be fair the graphics looked great...for the 20 seconds or so before it would crash.

# Yeah, I know what you mean. I hate the catalyst control center. That's why I tend to just download the basic drivers and use Ray Adams's tray tools.
But there are similar stories on both sides - for instance, my 8800 GTS was terrible at running Source games for some reason, always crashing, and I never found drivers that worked properly with every game.

# *remembers*
i bought an ATI card shortly after half life 2 came out because a) valve supposedly developed hl2 with ATI to make it super good and b) i'm a bit of a valve fanboy so wanted hl2 to look good when i played it so i thought getting an ATI would be a good move.

this was not the case
