The two companies are really quite evenly matched. It's not like AMD and Intel where one side is steamrolling the other.

Sort of, and AMD may already have binned ATI.
For some reason ATI only hires idiots. NV on
the other hand is filled with idiots from top down.

but i'm talking graphics cards. AMD is doing pretty bad at processors at the moment, but AMD/ATi is doing fine with graphics cards

Drivers, however, have not been good since before that time (2000ish?).

If it's for (new) video games, then it's not a good card to buy. But everything else should be fine.

the games i do play aren't graphics-heavy.
CAD, video editing, and being able to play HD stuff through my pc because it's cheaper than a HD-DVD player...my new hardware is up to it, but it came with a hole where the graphics card should be...

really there's no way to know exactly how your card is going to work out in your computer, but getting a balance of people's opinions is a good way to go about it i guess.

Or that might just have been my imagination. But it made me like them more, anyway.

i used to use ATI and it was good and so i stuck to them, but in recent years the driver updates (and shitty software they try and bundle with them) just cause loads of problems. I bought the cards for gaming and to be fair the graphics looked great...for the 20 seconds or so before it would crash.

But there are similar stories on both sides - for instance, my 8800 GTS was terrible at running Source games for some reason, always crashing, and I never found drivers that worked properly with every game.

i bought an ATI card shortly after half life 2 came out because a) valve supposedly developed hl2 with ATI to make it super good and b) i'm a bit of a valve fanboy so wanted hl2 to look good when i played it so i thought getting an ATI would be a good move.
this was not the case

Every so often, I go on there and post a thread to the tune of: "You're a bunch of worthless cunts and I don't know why you bother", and the sods proceed to say nasty things to me!
Honestly!
Don't know why I bother.

Having spent all day touching myself, I'm simply too exhausted to do it at night. I do this b3ta thang instead.
So I'm looking you straight in the eye, exhausted from touching myself, asking: "____ ___ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ __?"

The real question is why do you fear that which is different to you?
