I think so.people want to see a variety of images and they do not really browse sites, per-se, they mostly follow links from search engines - you are unlikely to win many users with a page which makes them click again. This is what I do, so I am a bit anal about it.
The original image is much nicer in my humble opinion than this one. I am fond of contrast.
