Seems to be the general consensus; If I use the image I'll stick with the original high-contrast one.

- I don't generally like low contrast images
- B&W: arty or just shitty? Depends on the website, I suppose

I'm just bandying around some ideas before I stick anything proper up.

Now is that what you really want? No. You want salmon.

then again I wouldn't have one picture on the front page

Whenever I stumble upon one, I send a link out to all my geek friends colleagues.

zoom around and merge and change for a minute or two before you can look at the site.

And just when you show something interesting in the flash movie, the page reloads itself to a second one.

people want to see a variety of images and they do not really browse sites, per-se, they mostly follow links from search engines - you are unlikely to win many users with a page which makes them click again. This is what I do, so I am a bit anal about it.
The original image is much nicer in my humble opinion than this one. I am fond of contrast.

I toned down the image itself so I could display the title against it, but I agree, I prefer the original. I'll make another stab at it later anyway, probably ditching the splash. Thanks for the advise!

One that's easier to show to prospective clients than a DevArt site.
Clearly it needs more work.

Spam is much better. Is the site for cottaging? More importantly I just had a smashing curry. B3ta will be much more interested in knowing this.

The depth of field looks too forced ( as in photoshpped )
The lack of contrast makes it look too washed out.
The lack of variance in the values makes it look dull.
All in all not a picture I'd be using if it were to indicate my skills as a photographer for hire.
Thanks for the spam.

that shows off some good photo skills...
the edit looks washed out and relatively amateurish.
if you're trying to advertise your photoing skills use a photo that shows good photography technique, not photoshop technique.
also, don't have a splash page, they're pointless, annoying and waste of my clicking finger's energy.
just my two pence
