# Thanks for the potted reviews...
I have a knee-jerk bad reaction to remakes of classics that are already perfect.

# indeed, I sat through it and was indifferent by the end, it just didn't 'work' for me. Just seemed to be unecessary
the second film though, I heartily recommend. Well paced (and harrowing) story, superb acting from the two main young leads, and even if you've read the book, the ending will still 'get' to you.
If you don't know the story then don't go searching out the ending before watching/reading it

# I shall seek it out.
At the risk of turning this into /talk - remakes of classics that are any good? I can't think of one. So why bother? Can you think of any good ones, b3tans?

# of course the worst/most ill informed remake of all time: The Ladykillers
The original IS the very definition of film perfection

# too true...
I can't even bring myself to watch it - and I love most of the Coens' stuff.

# Invasion of the Body Snatchers
I love the original but the Sutherland one is also very good.

# Now they're coming thick and fast.
Of course! Eighties excess made celluloid flesh. A true classic.
