It does read a little like that yes :(but that's down to it being written in a style more suited to the writing of a blog than a tutorial.
In fact, I wouldn't go so far as to call it a tutorial, it is only an explanation of basic photoshop techniques used.
Still, interesting to see the final piece and read the explanation, it's a cracking end result as well :)
