If you can convert the avi to a mov file, you can import it as video frames to layers in tattyshop and select how many frames you want ie every 3rd/4th frame etc :D

I think there's a website called something like mediaconvert, or something of similar name whichlets you upload more or less any kind of video file and convert it into other forms, that might be of use if imageready likes mov files?

ffmpeg may do it. In fact, riverghost if this is to do with your earlier question
you might find it easier to get the flv file and convert that gif using some free software that can be found under a google search (there's heaps of it, I'm not sure what's best)
