It depends.
A good carpenter ( cabinet maker ) could do it sympathetically so that it would look identical and as long as the draw joints were not cut it could be put back to the original in no time.

anyway - the leather on top is very faded and marked, and a couple of the drawers are stiff. It's a reproduction itself, but a rather old one...I'm pretty attached to it, mind.
