Eric B and Rakim is a good port of callif you want old skool and happy making look out Pete Rock and CL Smooth (INI is a good Pete Rock collabo with a more reggae feel to it) or DJ Krush or Leaders of the Nu Skool.... if you're looking for something more instrumental Entroducing by DJ Shadow is a record I would recommend to anyone
