I've kept CS2 installed just for ImageReadybut you can still do gif animations within Photoshop CS3 but you can't import GIF which is a complete pain. So I import to ImageReady and save as a .PSD so that I can bring it into Photoshop CS3 and edit.

Alasother than this, i've not looked back on jumping from PS7 on a PC to CS4 on a Mac Pro; but the price of CS2 still seems slightly heavy on the web for someone who has splashed out on a lot of legit Adobe software this year to reasonably 'downgrade'
