I grew up near Manchester Airport.I live closer to it today. I'm older than you and I can recall just fine the criss-crossing of water vapour across the skies as a child as they fascinated me. I can remember being on a Wardair 747 in 1980 on the way to Toronto and marvelling that we were actually flying above some of these trails.
There is nothing going on today that is any different that can't be explained by an increase in traffic.
