It's always "dwarfs" in astronomical contexts, I believe.

I remember an author's note in The Hobbit regarding the use of dwarfish vs dwarvish, but I can't remember what was what.

When I typed this, FF spellcheck approved dwarfish but not dwarvish (or spellcheck. Cuh).
