Isn't it the same with the other clothes that ladyfolk wear?
Our clothes are all measured in inches or centimetres, womens' are measured in some unknown and cryptic numbering system that varies from shop to shop.

well it's a bit like WST, or women standard time - the irony being it's far from standard.
"Pick me up in 15 mins" actually means 2 minutes.
"I just want to pop into this shop for one minute" equated to 1 hour.
etc etc
