But what about...
All the low budget films, that no one goes to see, and just get downloaded, and don't make money, leaving hardworking directors up the shitter as people are fighting them, at the same time as the major film companies.

If I'm honest there are so many holes in this argument you could drive a lorry through them
The most obvious being if the studios stop making blockbusters then what will the kids download and then surely the cycle will start again.
But the basic economic model of the major movie studios will have to change along with the online environmento.
Still FP'd so like I care!!!!!!!!!

Well...
..nobody goes to see low budget films because they don't get 'general release' in cinema chains, they don't get posters, and they don't get reviewed in newspapers because newspapers only review films that take out lots of advertising with them.
The only way these films ever become profitable cult movies is through free advertising when they get when they are shown on TV. Piracy is an additional avenue of free advertising, it's the same people who watch a film for free on TV and then decide it's so good they want to buy the DVD that will watch the film for free via bittorrent and then decide it's so good they want to buy the DVD.
If free advertising is bad for a film, then that's because it's one of those 'I want my £6 and 2 hours of my life back please' films.
