I managed to realise that nearly all my dreams involve my teeth breaking or cracking, so logically the next time it happens I'd think about it and realise it was a dream.

Very next dream, teeth cracked, went "Hmmm, must be a dream then." Looked at my wrist, then tried to shoot lightning bolts or something, fuck all happened.
