# I have the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro
In my opinion, it is the most difficult lens to get used to. But once you get the hang of it, it produces great shots.

# Ah cool, that site is quite accurate for his reviews IMO
might just take the plunge with this, I tried the 180mm f/3.5 and realized it was simply impossible without a tripod. 2.8 seems nice and tight as well for something that price; sharp handheld?

# Quite sharp. It's even a great lens for portraits, if I have to believe some of my friends who use it more often.

But DoF is so shallow, a mere heartbeat could bring you into the fuzzy spheres.
I did all mine without my tripod, but I have no doubt it would be better to use it in most cases.

# Thanks mate :)
I think I will give this a go, seems quite affordable

# Yeah, mine was an 'impulse buy' too

Friend phoned me at work that they were going to the shop right then, and if I also wanted one, I'd better decide in the next ten minutes ;-)
