[challenge entry] Why is it SO piss weak!?

Great for sending stuff across the room to a mate, but for any speaker or headset, you move more than a few feet away or pass a limb in front or something and that's your lot! It's shit!

# yes it does kinda take the piss
when your mouse at the front of your computer has a hard job communicating with the receiver in the back. It's very secure though - nobody can use it to gain control over the computer.

# I got a really nice lookin portable speaker for use with my new Nokia 5800, called a B-Tube off Play.com,
but it works at a maximum distance of 1 metre IF I don't put my phone in my pocket or breath, and the frickin wire it came with is longer than that.

Get the same problem with my laptop, I have to put my phone ON the laptop to communicate with it and likewise practically touch the speakers to it.

I had visions of taking my new toy out to the garden in me pocket playing iTunes off me laptop while I wandered about, no chance!

FM Transmitters and a cheapy FM radio works WAY better!

# haha yes, wires are great arent they? :)

# No, they're annoying, messy and fiddly, however they do work,
Bluetooth is a great IDEA but like electric cars just doesn't seem to be given enough power to make it a worthy alternative.

Until they solve that, wires are still a necessary evil I fear.

# Well I like wires :p
Why for example would I ever want a wireless keyboard? Also, why would I want wireless internet for a desktop that has to be plugged in to the wall anyway. Perhaps you can make a case for wireless mice but it will be a while I think before the tiny +ve of not having to manage the wire so it doesnt tug outweighs the -ves (battery life/inconvenience, interference, weight, energy consumption, security)

# wireless mouse with NiMh batteries, self-powered usb hub to plug the charging stand into
works for me

# I agree about the keyboard if you still think computers need their own desk and monitor with a chair you sit directly in front of with the keyboard under the monitor,
however for those of use who've noticed that computers are now so tiny and LCD TV's with PIP so PC compatible that you could scrap the desk and office chair when at home, then wireless keyboards and mice should finally have a great raison d'etre, IF THEY FECKING WORKED!

They don't, so I've given up and fallen back on laptops instead.
