# well said,
I feel old these days, as I often don't have the stomach for the really gratuitous stuff. - Blood and gore is best left to the imagination

/this being said, I did rather enjoy the 'reimagining' of Halloween a couple of years back, even though I went into it wanting to hate it for spitting on the memory of my fave horror film of all time.

# Yes the Rob Zombie remakes are rather good
but that's because he hasn't gone full gore and stays somehwat truer to the original. I'd really like to see the sequal but we don't go to the movies due to James being a smoker - so will wait for the DVD.

# that's what I did :)
not overly keen on seeing horror films at the cinema anyway ,as it tends to be filled
with far too many kids pratting about or texting.

Looking forward to the sequel as well, looks like it's following a similar storyline to the first sequel, following straight on from the first film, so could be good.

Speaking of horror 'reimaginings' steer WELL clear of the recent Friday 13th remake - absolutely dreadful. Still undecided by the trailer for the new nightmare of elm street series as well..

# I believe in the second it touches nicely upon the idea
that Michael Myers is somehow possessed and supernatural yet doesn't go down the road of playing too heavy on that else it becomes too abstract and not social-real enough if you understand what I mean.

Edit: Yes I would imagine anything to do with Friday the 13th after that damn shit awful Sci-Fi one (was it Jason X?)in the series would be a pile of rotting crap!

# certainly do, it's more akin to the old series (the early ones) and I like that
I think I preferred Myers over any other 'horror killer' as there was nothing about him consistent, no real 'signature' - which made it far more creepy.

# Well where the original really won over the competition
was that Micheal Myers was evil to start with and there was no explanation why, and he was human and not some zombie/reincarnate so therefore you had the feeling that perhaps out in the real world there was a real Michael Myers and that really made it scary. Friday the 13th was just nonsense, the killer in the first movie was his Mum you only see Jason right at the end - damn stupid if you ask me.

# aye, and totally with you on the explanation of myers introduction.
I STILL can't listen to THAT theme without getting goosebumps, and I've seen the film countless times now

# It certainly is my favourite I hope it's on this Halloween
I love getting some snacks in, some booze turning all the lights off and having a scarefest - this is my kind of fun!

What I also like to watch this time of year is The Thing - Halloween and The Thing would be my kind of night.
