I've always thought with things like the giant boulder...how did the people who made it TEST the damn thing??

Getting into a tomb involves some stupidly tricky mechanism, which usually results in a whole series of ancient walls collapsing and areas flooding.
1. How did they test the mechanism worked?
2. How did they know they wouldn't need to go back inside at any point?
3. Did any of them ever think "ah shit, i've left the idol spotlight on, knock the wall down AGAIN lads
