Photoshop CS4 using a 3D ring converted to a smart objectso that I could make it look more like a hoop. Also created 2 instances of it one which is intersected to show just the front part and placed above the tower image with the other behind and linked together.

Where is the ring from?I haven't messed with the 3d stuff since CS2 I think, tahkcalb and I tried importing some models and they didn't work very well. The ring you're using looks really smooth.

3D > New Shape from Layer... > Ringor you could use the Donut preset and transform it to thin it out.
