The event is "Choppo", which follows on from an old and now-defunct weekly event called "Oppo".

The outline: Compere Mark Olver presents an evening of new acts, and established acts performing new material. Past performers include his old flatmates Russel Howard (yes, off the telly) and Jon Richardson, and many up and coming locals such as Bea Roberts and Jared Hardy.

It's new acts and new material so it's not guaranteed grade A, but it still rarely disappoints and the casual atmosphere and banter are much nicer than going to a large gig.

The acts haven't been confirmed yet, I'll post as soon as I know!
