In my imagination it is toughened glass
so it will almost certainly be indestructible and show no signs of damage until it suddenly fails explosively.
In reality it is more likely a toughened glass laminate, so that may happen to a layer but another one will still take the weight of the newly brown trousered pedestrian for long enough to get them off the walkway and get it fixed.

But rockfaces have frequent rockfalls, and Chinese mountainous regions are often susceptible to earthquakes
However, China needs to invest in stuff to maintain growth. So this kind of thing happens.
