Husband made her look bad, some PR twat somewhere says "best way out of this is to say publicly you're ashamed and sack him" she does as shes told. She doesn't have to disagree with her husbands twattish behaviour, she just has to pretend to.
Oh and I'm pretty sure you already know why the spirits didn't warn her. Its because her husband isn't dead, obviously.

She's full of shit
She says her husband has nothing to do with the business, after she sacked him from that named position. But he's a director of the company.
