I would suspect a lot of good singers sound crap when isolated during live performance.
Often because they cannot clearly hear themselves sing.

She doesn't have stage monitors so probably using the in ear ones.
A mate of mine who works in sound says these can cause all sorts of issues with vocals, including pitch and timing.
As a amusing aside I made a spelling error on timing in that last sentence and google's suggested correction was "rimming"
