My grandmother used to go on about pre-talkies. She said she only went for the news reels. She was born in 1898. Moving pictures were a bit of a novelty no matter what the subject.

My grandmother was born in 1898 too!
But she came north from Mexico and by the time I got to know here she was just plain scary. I was afraid she'd knife me so I was very obedient.

My other grandmother was from Germany. She lived to almost 100.
She mainly shouted about my dad.
