You have a point.
I am being rather judgemental on this though, as I have never seen more than a couple of seconds of Miranda, Mrs B's Boys, etc. but base my assumptions on the John Peel measure of a good record - you can tell if you like it in the first four bars.
Tommy Trinder, Arthur Askey, Tony Hancock, Charlie Chaplin, all dreadful too in my book.

Recent comedy
just doesn't cut it for me, but then I am old. For every Vic and Bob there are 100 Citizen Khans. I've only seen clips of Mrs B'a Boys, which was enough, but did sit through a Miranda and a Not Going Out. 60 minutes I will never get back.
