I was so baffled by the whole thing that I copied the image into photoshop and checked the actual RGB values. Turned out: yep, blue and brown, just like it looked. Whatever clever contextual colour-adjustment adaptation is working overtime in everyone else's head is doing fuck all in mine.
Still can't decide whether that makes me slightly better or much, much worse than most other humans.

It changes jut slightly for me, but I'm pretty aware it's just "in contrast to", so it was always blue/black-brown for me.
