I have a feeling...
... that if you count up the number of teeth on the inside of the chain and the teeth on the left hand gear you'll get the same ratio as comparing the outside chain teeth with the right-hand gear.
Only a guess, but I'd be surprised if it was wrong.

In other words, are you saying that chain thickness adds to the real gear diameter?
