because cats are long-sighted, they can't focus their eyes on anything closer than 10 inches. So I'm not sure what it's seeing there.

I'm not entirely convinced that even if cats could focus on nearby objects that their brains would process visual information in a way that would allow them to see optical illusions.
You could put an A4 printout of some dead infant refugees infront of a cat and it would likely paw the fuck out of them.
