Debating is simply constructing an argument. Which is also what writing an essay is.
Why on earth do you think only Oxbridge types have such skills cultivated? Why aren't these sorts of skills being cultivated in state schools?

...along with philosophy and statistics. In the case of statistics not at A Level either.
