
It's fucking ridiculous to assume that we have a responsibility to control the population of these animals. They've been around for far longer than we have and were doing just dandy before we turned up.
Population control only becomes a necessity when there's a human angle involved. We control them to make out situation more comfortable, not theirs.

Culling is a result of human interference. If we could just find a way to fuck off and leave these animals alone then there would be no 'need' for it.

as the number of animals hunted is small. They argue that without it, in certain areas of Africa where tourism can't be developed, there would be no other financial incentive locally to conserve wildlife.
Of course, wildlife is affected by humans everywhere. Wildlife is now largely confined in parks in Africa. Some of these parks are becoming glorified zoos.
