So, yeah, this is clearly a fucking stupid thing to do.
But then, I have less respect for people who go (for example) kayaking or mountain climbing, and then have to get rescued by the emergency services...
Those things are also potentially very dangerous, but crucially MANY people have already done those things and have proven that they're very dangerous. At least this guy was doing something original, could be rescued from an easily accessible location, and wasn't putting the emergency services themselves in danger.
