No wonder there is confusion about nerve agents. He says Novichok is not a toxin as toxins are organic and naturally occurring. He then goes on to discuss the toxicity of Novichok.

Though the words are similar,
I looked it up and the writer is surprisingly correct about this.
Toxic/toxicity are general terms related to damaging living organisms with chemicals.
Toxicant is a term for any toxic chemical, but a toxin is a toxicant produced by a living organism.
