It is impossible to overstate how good Zatoichi is.
One of the great fictional creations. I'm slowly working my way through the Criterion versions. Katsu is extraordinary, though he can't, admittedly, match this in silliness.

The 'Beat' Takeshi version was refreshing
especially for the 'beat' drummy bits.
