I'm currently wondering how I got peri-peri sauce on my jeans, but in 3 days I'll be the exact age John Glenn was when he first blasted off, beginning his journey around the Earth, becoming the first human to orbit the planet.

The first human to orbit the planet was Yuri Gagarin, on the 12th of April 1961.
Glenn was the first American to do so, in February '62. (Shephard went to space in May '61, but didn't orbit.)
On the bright side, Glenn went on to became the oldest astronaut at age 77, on the Space Shuttle, so there's still hope for us.

I think that I'll be able to sleep soundly despite this revelation.

It seems to use weird boring recent-celebrity-based examples.
Apparently Elon Musk did something or other that came to nothing and was nowhere near as important as he thought it was when he was about my age. Or any age really.
This is a slightly better one:
Who old are you
