a stopped clock and all that
I know Trump's arguments are often stupid and that's not news, I particularly hate the shifting focus onto China.
Yeah they're terrible on climate change but also we've outsourced loads of industry there. It's a supply chain, we're all culpable.

Same as the 'immigrants taking our jobs' shit
The companies involved outsourced the jobs away to cheaper countries, I've watched it happen from within.
They outsource energy/pollution too.

Heaven forbid anyone should criticise an authoritarian and undemocratic regime with an appalling record on the environment and human rights.

well done for purpolsely missing the point
China is an authoritarian hellhole but what I mean is focusing on China for being shit on climate change when we buy all their stuff is blame shifting.
There's two in any transaction and both parties have levels of responsibility for the whole supply chain.
The West could improve China by refusing to buy product that didn't conform to whatever standards we like.
But we don't do that, we like cheap stuff and then to go "it's not our fault."

There's plenty of dictatorships, but it's China's social credits system that scares me
It's a sinister and horribly effective way of censorship and suppressing dissent. I fear if left unchallenged it will form a blueprint that other countries follow in a dystopian future
