No idea, I've got a rather snazzy third party router which has been hugely reliable for the past three or so years.
I'd assume they do the same thing as they do after a power outage, default to their most recent 'on' state. They're all controlled by a central local hub, so we avoid all the nonsense featured in the video.

Philips Hue for the lighting.
Ring Doorbell, Samsung motion sensors and a Samsung Smartthings hub to make everything play nicely together. It's a bit of a faff getting everything set up but once you figure out what should be controlling what it's all relatively simple.
