But presumably a little kid would be a fair bit quicker
And would have smaller lungs etc.

As a kid I used to play on a beach very like that.
We could walk over it but if we stayed in one place it would grip our feet within seconds, so kept moving.
The sandbanks and rip currents are more dangerous.
