This is a normal post Will you die if you get stuck in quicksand...
Read the fantastic manual. And maybe think about fluid mechanics.

This is a normal post It only took...
...eight minutes to sink that far in. To be honest with ya, that's quite a long time. I reckon you'd probably be able to walk away before you go all Artax.

This is a normal post But presumably a little kid would be a fair bit quicker
And would have smaller lungs etc.

This is a normal post As a kid I used to play on a beach very like that.
We could walk over it but if we stayed in one place it would grip our feet within seconds, so kept moving.
The sandbanks and rip currents are more dangerous.

No, what happens is you sink all the way through, and come out in the caves below where you find an injured snake and a Sith dagger.

This is a normal post I did a job in Cartmel last year and took a walk down to Grange-over-Sands on Morcambe Bay.
The tide was out but just on the turn and I took a walk to the water's edge. I soon discovered just how quickly sand can turn quick and rivulets can suddenly appear that can cut you off. I appreciated how those Chinese cockle-pickers died in the same region a few years ago...luckily I made it back to solid ground without mishap.

This is a normal post "Pulling out my Chinaman"
Is that slang for something that will land you on the sex offender register?

Asking for my little friend.

This is a normal post As a child I always thought
that quick sands would be more of a problem in my life than they turned out to be
