One revelation from Alex Jones bitter divorce/custody hearings was that he gave sworn testimony that he doesn't hold the opinions he expresses through inforwars and webcasts, that it is a persona he created for entertainment purposes. Interestingly, this admission had no impact on his popularity with his followers. Maybe they think it was a double bluff. It's a bit like the Bigfoot hoax, even when the originator revealed the hoax and showed the fake feet he used, it didn't stop a subsequent army of people who now believe in bigfoot. Beliefs are quite sticky
