Recycle's brilliant for chopping stuff up ie amens etc.
Reason's pretty much all I can use on my puter, it doesn't like cubase and I don't like fruityloops. I still haven't worked out ableton either, though it seems pretty good. I'm used to reason though so all's good!

I will never figure Ableton out. I'd love to figure out how to do live sets with it but oddly I just find it impenetrable.
(Added to that, I don't think it's much of a thrill for an audience to see a guy stand at a laptop for two hours. At least DJing has a certain degree of 'performance' to it)

Some of the guys we've had down at our nights have played some insane laptop sets. Dolphin and Teknoist are the best I've seen. Bong Ra kicks arse too...

But bear in mind I have none of the visual art and displays and whatnot.
I still think the sight of a skinny young white lad behind a mac wouldn't exactly thrill the tits off the crowd.
At least when I DJ I can be a bit dynamic and animated...

I still use decks, but the last few breakcore nights I've played at I've been the only one without a laptop o_O

You'd never get that at a drum and bass night...they're commited to the vinyl...
You a CD whore or a vinyl purist? Or a happy medium?

Since I play a lot of my own stuff and I get a lot of mp3s off the net. But I can DJ vinyl as well, unlike many CDJs!
There's quite a lot of DnB DJs near me that cling to vinyl like it's a superior master race that we must all bow down to, and CDs are an evil hellbent on ruining the Reich of the LPs...
Or something like that.
