In the back issues from the 1980s(1990s?) of the British Journal of Psychiatry there was a letter asking if anyone else had encountered a patient who's paranoid delusions centred on the new domestic satellite TV dishes.

The absolute certainty with which many hold the particular belief amazes me. No argument, evidence or demonstration will persuade them.
With the right delusions some have probably started religions.
