To be fair here your argument is a bit bollocks.
It's often cheaper to travel by land rather than air when you are outside of Europe. Reducing our carbon emissions is a very important thing and is everybody's responsibility, including yours.
Also one writer doesn't represent the whole newspaper. Maybe he disagreed with their policy, you don't say. He most likely does but you didn't bother asking.
