Amazing how many otherwise bright people fall for woo remedies
Yes the pharmaceutical industry, which for all its faults has to do and pay for clinical trials and follow QC/ QA for manufacture, are nonetheless the devil incarnate. Holland & Barrett, Boots and other big-woo practitioners peddle guff that they know doesn't work. Alternative practitioners have little or no training, no meaningful professional registration and have been known to discourage vaccination or consultation of real medics. Yet such obvious scams are apparently fine.

Hope is one of the easiest things to sell.
The placebo effect helps them fool people. Along with the erroneous assumption that intelligence in one area means intelligence in others.
