I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that Huey, Dewey and Louie were one of the primary influences for R2D2 at least..

Yes I hope I am replying to the right person. Ye those droids look like th ones in Sient running, which incidentally is a really upsetting film when you watch it as an adult.
