It may have been a nice place back then.
I was there last year and found it awful.
Full of junkies, mental health patients and virtue signalling hipsters (still a thing there).
Mind you, this was downtown. It has many gentrified, posh areas too.

more's the pity. mallification then the downtown dies as nobody shops there any more. Had a read and the homelessness issue is relatively recent there, exploding the last few years. MAGA. Don't mind the hipsters. That's what I liked about it, lots of people into mountain biking and some great wilderness nearby. I'll put up with almond lattes and pocket composting and non-binary marmalade for that
