if you were to interpret it narrowly, as in "most used as an icon or cultural reference in other contexts" there's a lot more mario stuff being sold, worn, and emblazoning kid's lunchbox than lara croft. they did a couple of movies, but everthing gets that these days. The witcher got two whole seasosns, not just a movie, fallout is getting one.

The bafta seems more like the criteria Rolling Stone have for its top albums list, which is "what do this cadre of judges of a certain age like the most". I wouldn't pay it too much mind.
