Yeah, one of my points of reference was King Gizzard's video for Infest the Rat's Nest; I thought a lot about how you balance a "game" with a music video. Didn't like how with that one you had to survive long enough to hear the entire song - from the beginning I wanted mine to be a full experience no matter how badly you play.
...also the game is designed to be impossible to 'win' so it had to be enjoyable regardless!
